LIFESTYLE | The Playlist #1

There's no denying we all love music. Wether Dance or Disco or Rock or Rap, there's a genre out there for everyone.

As this is a new blog, I thought I would start a new series on here called The Playlist, in which I share with you the songs, both new and old, I have been loving and adding to my Spotify playlist to listen to over and over again.

So, what have I added to my playlist this week?

Bastille - Good Grief
MO - Who Do You Think Of?
Sigala and John Newman - Give Me Your Love
VERITIE - Underdressed
Motion City Soundtrack - Everything Is Alright

BEAUTY | July Favourites

July beauty and lifestyle favourites
Goodbye July, Hello August.
July brought the UK scorching weather (yes, really) and a whole new bunch of products we found a love for. Who knows what August will bring?

Teapigs Popcorn tea 'Tea Temples'
Teapigs Popcorn Tea - Like every British person, I love tea. And, like any born and bred Yorkshire woman, I love my Yorkshire Tea. Every so often I like to mix it up and try something new and last month I found a new love for Teapigs tea, especially the popcorn flavour. I decided to treat myself to three of the Tea Temples sample packs and out of the three I ordered, Popcorn was my favourite; a Japanese green tea infused with toasted rice which accurately represents the smell of the cinema in your home.

Paco Rabanne Olympea perfume 30ml
Paco Rabanne 'Olympea' - Infamous for Lady Million, this new offering from scent master Paco Rabanne became a firm favourite amongst my perfume collection as soon as I purchased it. Trying to describe a scent is beyond my abilities, but trust me when I say this is beautiful. Every time I wear this I get compliments and just a few sprays in a morning, or before a night out, is all you need.

Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude foundation
Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation - Well, this isn't a flattering image is it!? Apologies for this, I'm still trying to get to grips with my new camera and editing software. Throughout July, this has been my go to foundation. It's liquid, water like formula makes it a joy to blend, it gives a light coverage which can be easily built up and it lasts all day on the skin. When the weather was ridiculously warm, this was the only foundation I wanted to use and it didn't let me down!

Urban Decay Gwen Stefani pallete
Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette - Okay, I know this launched a while ago but throughout July it has been my go to palette for soft, everyday eyes or smoked out glam. My favourite combination is Baby over the entire lid, Anaheim in the crease and Punk blended into the outer corners, finished with Urban Decay's Bourbon 24/7 Liner on the bottom lid and in the top and bottom water line and lashings of black mascara.

I hope you like my July favourites and have possibly even seen some of your own favourites in here.
What were you drooling over in July?

Bonjour, Eleanor

Well, hello there! Welcome to my new blog, Maison de Eleanor. If you didn't know, I'm Sophie who used to write on Books and Beauty.

I decided it was time for a bit of a change when it came to blogging. I launched Books and Beauty in 2012 and whilst I enjoyed many benefits such as being sent items to review, meeting a lot of lovely bloggers and generally just enjoying writing, I felt the time came to close the blog down and start a-fresh.

My blogging mojo completely disappeared at the end of last year when my Grandad passed away just before Christmas. I kept telling myself I would blog again and, whilst uploading the odd post, my heart simply wasn't in it anymore and I featured nothing on Books and Beauty from March.

These past few weeks have been quite shitty too, with my anxiety and depression hitting me with full force. I don't want to leave the house, but at the same time I wanted to go out and have fun. I didn't want to do anything, but at the same time I wanted to do everything. The last thing I wanted to do was blog.

But, after a bit of a bad week this week, I'm trying to pull myself out of this slump and find my passion within blogging again, doing so by starting from the beginning and deleting the blog I fell out of love with and creating a new, fresh outlet to keep my mind off things.

If you used to follow my old blog, you'll know on there you would find beauty and book reviews with the odd lifestyle post thrown in; exactly the same you will find here on Maison de Eleanor but a little bit different.

So, in a nutshell, I would like to welcome you to Maison de Eleanor. I hope you enjoy reading my musings on the internet and a proper blogging schedule will begin in August. Until then, Au revoir!
